Armature (Sculpture)
An Armature is framework around which a sculpture is built. It commonly refers to a material used for permanent re-enforcement of clay and concrete sculptures. Many different materials can be used as an armature, and the choice will depend on your sculptural medium and the scale of the project.
Common materials used as armatures include;
- Wire Mesh or Chicken Mesh
- Aluminum Foil
- Rebar, (Steel Reinforcement Bars)
- Polystyrene
