Beeswax (Cosmetics)

Beeswax is used as an emulsifier, a base ingredient and a stiffener for cosmetic products such as creams, soaps, lotions and balms. Natural beeswax also retains a lovely honey fragrance. It is also used in Candle Making.

Beeswax is created by Honey bees, they secrete the wax from their bodies and use to build honeycomb cells in which their young are raised and honey and pollen are stored to feed the bee colony. Honey has healing and antiseptic properties and it's believe that beeswax somewhat mirrors these.

Beeswax is sometimes refined to change its color to white by a heating process, or refined for specific uses with chemicals being added, be sure to check as beeswax is not always just beeswax.

Beeswax is a soft wax and a favorite base ingredient for many beauty products it is available from any soap making supplies store.
