A decal is essentially a 'Sticker' or 'Transfer'. Decals are used as a decorative item.

A decal was once most commonly made from a print on rice paper, which was then applied to a surface and fixed in place by a varnishing or glazing technique such as surfboard decals, or ceramic decals.

Decals are now also considered to be any clear sticker as well removable wall decals used to decorate walls inside a home or large scale vinyl decals used to put signage on a car or a building.
