Deckle Edge
The Deckle edge on a sheet of paper is the feathery edge which is the result of the natural run-off of wet pulp when making handmade paper.
A deckle edge is quite desirable in paper crafts as a decorative edge and for this reason a deckle edge is sometimes manually created later by soaking stacked sheets of paper in water, and then gently tearing them whilst still wet.
Paper manufacturers also simulate a deckle edge when producing paper by machine; they cut damp or wet paper with a jet of high preassure water.
