Enlarger
A Darkroom Enlarger is a device for projecting light through small negatives on onto photographic paper as a way of enlarging the image to create a photographic print.
An enlarger is an essential part of a Photography Darkroom Setup.
An enlarger is really just like a camera, but in reverse. In the camera the image of the light filled world we live in is concentrated onto a small piece of film; In the darkroom enlarger the light source is inside the box, and the lens expands the film image to the desired size. The light is projected down onto the photographic paper and with the use of a enlarger timer, and a darkroom easel, the final photographic print is created. The print then comes to life via a process of chemical baths.
There are many different sized darkroom enlargers from small ones for 35mm film up to large ones able to use sheet film from large professional cameras. Enlargers can be purchased from any good Photography Supplies Store.
