Frame Cord
Frame cord is also often called framing cord or picture frame string.
Frame cord is a string or rope like material that is strung between two d-hooks, across the back of a picture frame.
Frame cord holds the weight of the picture allowing it to be hung on the wall.
Not just any old rope or cord should be used as frame. Good quality frame cord is has particular qualities to serve it's purpose, frame cord is normally nylon, non-rotting and very strong. It is often plaited to help it doesn't stretch or become slack with time.
To tie frame cord to the back of a picture frame there are special frame cord knots, the cut ends of the cord are then sealed carefully with a flame to prevent them from fraying, alternatively they are rapped in a little bit of framing tape.
Frame cord comes in bulk rolls commonly in white, it can be purchased from framing supplies.
