Fumed Glass
Fumed Glass is glass that has an iridescent surface due to a thin film of metallic oxides.
Any glass item can be considered fumed glass if it has the unmistakable iridescence. It is a common technique used by glass artists when creatring decorative glass items such as bowls and vases and glass sculptures.
Fumed glass is also commonly used in the lampwork bead making process and fumed glass beads and glass stones are seen frequently in jewelry.
To learn how to create fumed glass, consider taking a glass art course, or glass blowing workshop or contact your local Glass Supplies Store.
