Laid paper
Laid Papers is basically any paper that has a grid like pattern in the sheet. It occurs from the pulp resting against the wire mesh in a paper making screen. Laid paper, is not textured, but does generally have greater strength.
Laid paper has two types of grain lines; "laid" lines are close together while "chain" lines are further apart & run parallel with the general grain of the sheet. Laid papers are perfect for paper that will be folded; particular in book arts, where bookbinders need greater strength..
