Life Drawing

Life Drawing often also called Figure Drawing or Figurative Drawing is the study of the human form; anatomy, skeletal structure and muscle mass by artists drawing a nude model.

In a normal life drawing session an artist’s model will pose for varying increments such as 30 seconds, 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes and finally a 20 minute or longer pose to allow the artists sufficient time to complete a finished drawing from life.

The drawing medium used most commonly for life drawing is Artists Charcoal, Graphite Pencil or Chalk Pastels

Drawing the human figure requires observation and understanding of what is underneath the skin, understanding how the bones support the weight of the body and how the muscles work can all help immensely.

Life drawing is considered to be a fundamental of art and is practised at all leading art schools around the world.
