Smalti is the Plural of Smalto, it is a mosaic tile material used for creating mosaics.

Smalti is created by pouring molten glass onto a flat metal slab and then cutting it up into small irregular pieces as it cools. Smalti is traditionally manufactured by hand, and originally only in Italy. The process has however become industrialized and it is produced all over the world.

Smalti Mosaic Tiles come in a spectalurar array of colors and appearances, sometime opaque colors are mixed with semi transparent colors to great effect or the molten glass is combined with minerals, mica and silver or gold flakes to give the final tessarae irridecnece, brilliance and shine.
