What is a Braided Rug?
A braided rug is traditionally a form of rug making. They were made from heavy strips of used yarn or fabric which were first braided into thick ropes and then sewn together in spirals, ovals, circles and rectangles.
The final decorative effect of a braided rug is seen when the piece is finished and is laid on the floor in reverse to hide the seams.
Creating a braided rug is very easy to do, and is a great way to recycle old clothes and fabrics. Braided rugs can be used for door mats, placements, pot holders, table protectors, chair cushions and more.
